Things To Buy Before The Baby Arrives

Collecting all the things you need for your baby can be a time and money consuming job. It is therefore advised to not start too late. At the end of the pregnancy, you do not need the extra stress of having to buy things for your baby. Make sure you have everything ready at least one month before the due date, to avoid unnecessary stress.

How much does it all cost?

The average cost of getting the most essential supplies for your baby is approximately 750 dollars. However, this is only for the absolute necessities. For example, this does not include the standard expenses for a buggy (around $90), a car seat (about $120) and a stroller (around $350). If you add all the additional costs, you’ll end up paying at least $1300 or more.

If you want to reduce the cost of the baby kit, you can easily save money on this. If you don’t mind going to the thrift store, this is an excellent place to start. Also flea markets are often full of items that are suitable for the baby essentials. Finally, going to your local marketplace is also a good way to score some cheap baby outfits. And maybe you don’t even have to spend any money, as parents often keep old baby clothes in the house. Maybe your parents have some of your old baby clothes just lying around in the attic!

Of course, you can go as crazy as you like. If you want a fully equipped baby room, a stroller you can also jog around with and an interactive baby monitor, the costs can quickly increase. Keep in mind, however, that the things in the baby kit often don’t last long, because your baby will grow out of them very quickly.

What do I need?

We have put small list of products together that you will definitely need for the baby set:

  • Diapers
  • Babygrows
  • Wardrobe
  • Breast pump
  • Bottles for puffed milk
  • Nipple ointment
  • Nutrition cushion
  • Milk powder
  • Box
  • Baby oil
  • Pacifier
  • Suncream for babies
  • Diaper bag
  • Baby sling
  • Cleaning mat
  • Cradle
  • Nightlight

This is not an extensive life of baby essential products. If you’re currently looking for items for your baby essentials, take a look at the following tips to easily assemble all the things you need for your baby kit.

Borrow items

The first and most important tip is; borrow stuff for the baby. Friends or family will certainly still have some things that they don’t use anymore, but that are very useful for you as an addition to the set. Ask around in your immediate surroundings!

Think about the baby shower

Of course, asking your friends for stuff is also an option during the baby shower or the maternity visit. People usually prefer to give something they know you can use, rather than something you’ll throw away later anyway.

Look and compare

There are plenty of sites available where you can make nice comparisons between the products you think you need. So look around and compare products with each other. Is it suitable for your situation or do you need more or less of it? If you’re still in doubt about whether you need the product or not, you can always wait a bit and see. If the baby is there and you really need it, you can always send your loving husband to the store to get the product ;)!
